Agensi Kerja dan Bantuan Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu bagi Pelarian Palestin (UNRWA) memutuskan untuk menutup ibu pejabatnya di Baitulmaqdis Timur selepas penduduk Israel berulang kali membakar kawasan berhampiran premis itu.
GAZA: Agensi Kerja dan Bantuan Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu bagi Pelarian Palestin (UNRWA) di Timur Dekat pada Khamis memutuskan untuk menutup ibu pejabatnya di Baitulmaqdis Timur selepas penduduk Israel berulang kali membakar kawasan berhampiran premis itu, lapor Xinhua.
Pesuruhjaya UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini menerusi hantaran di X berkata kebakaran itu merupakan kejadian kedua dalam tempoh kurang daripada seminggu dan berlaku semasa kakitangan berada di premis berkenaan.
Beliau berkata tiada kakitangan agensi yang cedera dalam kejadian itu, tetapi kebakaran menyebabkan kerosakan besar di kawasan luar ibu pejabat.
Beliau menegaskan bahawa “ini adalah perkembangan yang sangat membimbangkan dan nyawa kakitangan PBB berada dalam risiko serius.”
Menurut Lazzarini, pelampau Israel mengadakan protes di luar premis agensi PBB itu sejak dua bulan lepas.
Minggu ini, protes itu bertukar ganas apabila penunjuk perasaan membaling batu ke arah kakitangan PBB serta bangunan premis. —AlHijrah Online
