WANITA CEDERA KERETA REMPUH GAJAH DI JALAN MERSING-ENDAU
Seorang wanita cedera selepas kereta Toyota Vios dipandunya melanggar seekor gajah yang sedang melintas di Kilometer 12 Jalan Mersing-Endau malam tadi.
Ketua Polis Daerah Mersing Supt Abdul Razak Abdullah Sani berkata dalam kejadian pada 10.40 malam, wanita warga tempatan berusia 47 tahun itu sedang memandu kereta dari arah Mersing menuju Endau sebelum terlanggar gajah berkenaan.

Ketua Polis Daerah Mersing Supt Abdul Razak Abdullah Sani berkata dalam kejadian pada 10.40 malam, wanita warga tempatan berusia 47 tahun itu sedang memandu kereta dari arah Mersing menuju Endau sebelum terlanggar gajah berkenaan.
“Pemandu terbabit cuba membrek namun jarak yang terlalu dekat menyebabkan keretanya melanggar gajah berkenaan. Mangsa mengalami kecederaan serta menerima rawatan di Hospital Mersing sebagai pesakit luar,” katanya ketika dihubungi Bernama hari ini.
Akibat pelanggaran itu, kereta mangsa mengalami kerosakan teruk pada bahagian hadapan termasuk bampar pecah.
Sementara itu, Jabatan Perlindungan Hidupan Liar dan Taman Negara (Perhilitan) Johor berkata gajah berkenaan tidak mati dan berjaya masuk semula ke kawasan hutan selepas kejadian.
“Laluan berkenaan sememangnya kawasan lintasan gajah kerana berhampiran habitat asalnya di Hutan Simpan Gunung Arong. Pasukan Perhilitan telah dihantar untuk memantau kawasan berkenaan dan mengesan pergerakan gajah itu,” katanya.–AlHijrah Online
