KUALA LUMPUR: Kerajaan bercadang untuk mengenakan duti eksais terhadap cecair atau gel mengandungi nikotin untuk rokok elektronik dan ‘vape’.
Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim berkata, walaupun ‘vape’ bernikotin masih tidak sah di sisi undang-undang, ianya telah dijual secara berleluasa dan dianggarkan bernilai lebih RM2 bilion.
Ujarnya, sebagai sokongan terhadap ikhtiar ‘Generational Endgame’ (GEG), kerajaan akan menyalurkan separuh daripada hasil duti eksais kepada Kementerian Kesihatan (KKM).
“Bagi mengurangkan ketirisan, usaha penguatkuasaan agensi Kerajaan akan terus dipergiat bersama-sama pihak industri bagi mengekang ketirisan hasil dan subsidi angkara sindiket penyeludupan seperti diesel, arak dan rokok.
“Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN) dan Jabatan Kastam Diraja Malaysia (JKDM) akan melaksanakan semula program pengakuan secara sukarela.
“Melalui program ini, pengampunan ke atas penalti 100 peratus akan diberikan bagi pengakuan sukarela mulai 1 Jun 2023 hingga 31 Disember 2024,” katanya dalam Pembentangan Belanjawan 2023 Malaysia Madani di Parlimen hari ini.
Sebelum ini bekas Menteri Kesihatan Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar membentangkan bacaan kali pertama Rang Undang-Undang (RUU) Kawalan Produk Tembakau dan Merokok 2022 di Dewan Rakyat bagi menyelesaikan isu ketagihan produk nikotin itu.
Antaranya RUU itu memperuntukkan larangan individu yang lahir pada 1 Januari 2007 dan seterusnya, merokok, membeli atau memiliki produk tembakau atau peranti.–AlHijrah Online
