ISTANBUL: Ketua Persatuan Antarabangsa Pengilang Dalam Operasi Eurasia pada Jumaat berkata semua institusi, termasuk Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu (PBB), Pertubuhan Makanan dan Pertanian PBB (FAO), Pertubuhan Perdagangan Dunia (WTO) dan Tabung Kewangan Antarabangsa (IMF) bersetuju dunia akan menghadapi krisis kelaparan yang tidak pernah berlaku sebelum ini.
Eren Gunhan Ulusoy memetik laporan antarabangsa bahawa 811 juta orang kekurangan zat makanan dan 276 juta hidup dalam kedaifan ketika berucap pada persidangan antarabangsa melibatkan kumpulan itu di Istanbul, lapor Agensi Anadolu.
“Setiap biji gandum berharga, kita mesti mengambil langkah mengurangkan kelaparan dengan mengelakkan pembaziran serta mencegah kerugian,” katanya.
Acara empat hari bermula Khamis dengan pameran itu, akan memberi tumpuan kepada beberapa topik, termasuk pengeluaran bijirin peringkat global, isu perdagangan dan operasi pengilang.
“Pengilang mesti berusaha untuk melindungi setiap gram bahan mentah.
“Sekiranya gangguan rantaian bekalan disebabkan krisis di Ukraine gagal diselesaikan, 47 juta lagi orang akan berdepan ancaman kemiskinan, katanya.
Ukraine antara pengeksport gandum utama dunia, menggantung eksportnya akibat operasi ketenteraan Rusia di negara itu.
Menurut Jabatan Pertanian Amerika Syarikat, stok gandum dunia akan menurun sebanyak 12 juta tan metrik.
Beliau berkata Ukraine menaikkan stok gandumnya daripada 1 juta kepada 6 juta tan tahun ini serta menegaskan India bersedia memenuhi defisit gandum tetapi selepas peningkatan suhu yang tidak dijangka, negara itu telah menghentikan eksport gandumnya buat masa ini. –AlHijrah Online
