ANKARA: Australia pada Selasa menarik balik keputusan untuk mengiktiraf Baitulmaqdis Barat sebagai ibu negara Israel, lapor Agensi Anadolu.
“Australia komited terhadap penyelesaian dua negara iaitu masa depan Israel dan Palestin secara bersama dalam keadaan aman dan damai berlandaskan persempadanan yang diiktiraf antarabangsa.
“Hari ini kerajaan mengesahkan pendirian Australia bahawa isu Baitulmaqdis harus diselesaikan menerusi rundingan damai antara Israel dan rakyat Palestin,” kata Menteri Luar Penny Wong dalam satu kenyataan.
Pada 2018, Perdana Menteri Scott Morrison ketika itu berkata kerajaannya akan mengiktiraf Baitulmaqdis Barat sebagai ibu negara Israel tetapi tidak akan memindahkan kedutaannya dari Tel Aviv sehingga penyelesaian damai dicapai.
Morrison turut menyenaraikan perkara berkenaan dalam dasar Australia tetapi kerajaan Perdana Menteri Anthony Albanese telah meminda pengiktirafan itu berkuasa Mei.
Pada 2018, Wong yang menolak keputusan Morrison itu berkata: “Parti Buruh tidak menyokong pengiktirafan unilateral Baitulmaqdis sebagai ibu negara Israel dan akan meminda keputusan ini”, lapor akhbar The Guardian.
Pada 2017, Presiden Amerika Syarikat (AS) Donald Trump ketika itu secara rasmi mengiktiraf Baitulmaqdis sebagai ibu negara Israel, mengubah dasar AS untuk kekal berkecuali.
Tindakan AS itu mencetuskan kecaman dan bantahan meluas di wilayah Palestin dan beberapa negara Arab dan Islam.
Eropah turut mengkritik langkah itu sambil memberi amaran bahawa keputusan AS akan mengeruhkan lagi hubungan antara Palestin dan Israel serta mencetuskan krisis di rantau itu.–AlHijrah Online
