PUTRAJAYA: Pengguna media sosial diingatkan supaya tidak membangkitkan sentimen kebencian dan provokasi terhadap institusi raja, perkauman dan agama.
Pengerusi Interim Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia (MCMC) Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din berkata orang ramai juga diingatkan supaya berhemah serta menjauhkan diri daripada memberikan pandangan berbaur kebencian membabitkan kaum dan agama.
“Semua pihak harus menghormati keputusan pilihan raya dan pemilihan perdana menteri yang akan dibuat oleh Yang di-Pertuan Agong dengan hati terbuka,” katanya dalam kenyataan hari ini.
Beliau berkata MCMC akan terus membuat pemantauan bagi membendung penyebaran maklumat yang tidak sahih serta kenyataan bersifat jelik membabitkan unsur 3R, iaitu Raja (Royalty), Agama (Religion) dan Kaum (Race).
Sebarang perkongsian kandungan bersifat palsu, jelik dan mengancam merupakan satu kesalahan di bawah Seksyen 233 Akta Komunikasi dan Multimedia 1998, yang jika sabit kesalahan boleh didenda maksimum RM50,000 atau penjara setahun atau kedua-duanya sekali, katanya.
Mohamad Salim berkata tindakan penguatkuasaan bersama Polis Diraja Malaysia akan diambil terhadap mereka yang terlibat berdasarkan aduan daripada orang awam mengikut peruntukan undang-undang sedia ada demi melindungi ketenteraman dan kepentingan masyarakat.
