AHLI PARLIMEN AUSTRALIA BERUCAP GUNA BAHASA MELAYU
Sam, 61, yang mewakili Parti Buruh dilantik sebagai ahli parlimen selepas memenangi kerusi Perth di Tangney pada pilihan raya umum Australia, baru-baru ini.
KUALA LUMPUR: Ahli Parlimen Australia kelahiran Malaysia, Sam Lim menarik perhatian ramai apabila membuat ucapan sulungnya di parlimen negara itu menggunakan bahasa Melayu dan Cina.
Sam, 61, yang mewakili Parti Buruh dilantik sebagai ahli Parlimen selepas memenangi kerusi Perth di Tangney pada pilihan raya umum Australia, baru-baru ini.
Ketika berucap, Sam merakamkan ucapan terima kasih kepada rakyat Australia dan Malaysia yang menyokongnya sepanjang proses pilihan raya berlangsung.
“Kepada semua saudara-saudara yang berada di Malaysia, Australia dan seluruh pelosok dunia, terima kasih atas semua perhatian dan berkat yang telah anda sekalian berikan kepada saya.
“Terima kasih atas semua dokongan dan bantuan anda semasa pilihan raya di Australia. Terima kasih semua,” kata beliau.

Pada pilihan raya umum Australia, Mei lalu, kemenangan Parti Buruh mendapat perhatian apabila dua calonnya, Sam Lim dan Penny Wong merupakan kelahiran Malaysia.
Sam Lim dilahirkan di Kampung Parit Zin, Muar, Johor dan berhijrah ke negara itu pada 2002 manakala Penny Wong yang dilantik sebagai menteri luar berpindah ke negara itu pada 1976.
Sebagai rekod, Sam merupakan bekas anggota Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) sebelum berkhidmat sebagai pegawai polis di Australia Barat.-AlHijrah Online
