PROTES PRO-PALESTIN: UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BATALKAN MAJLIS KONVOKESYEN UTAMA
The University of Southern California (USC) telah membatalkan majlis konvokesyen utamanya yang dijadualkan pada 10 Mei ini atas sebab keselamatan dan pelaksanaan langkah keselamatan baharu berikutan demonstrasi pro-Palestin di kampus.
Demonstrasi pro-Palestin diadakan di University of Southern California, Los Angeles pada 24 April.
WASHINGTON: The University of Southern California (USC) telah membatalkan majlis konvokesyen utamanya yang dijadualkan pada 10 Mei ini atas sebab keselamatan dan pelaksanaan langkah keselamatan baharu berikutan demonstrasi pro-Palestin di kampus.
Langkah ini akan memperlahankan pemprosesan sejumlah besar tetamu yang dijangkakan, menjadikannya tidak praktikal untuk menjadi tuan rumah kepada majlis tradisional utama yang menarik 65,000 pengunjung dalam masa singkat, lapor United Press International (UPI).
Untuk meningkatkan aspek keselamatan, USC akan mengeluarkan tiket kepada semua acara konvokesyen dan menghadkan akses ke pintu masuk. Program konvokesyen yang dikemas kini akan diumumkan pada laman sesawang universiti pada Selasa.
Sementara majlis utama dibatalkan, aktiviti persendirian jabatan, sambutan khas dan pemakaian hud akademik akan berlangsung seperti dirancang.
Langkah ini muncul setelah demonstrasi pro-Palestin terus merebak di seluruh universiti di Amerika Syarikat, antaranya di University of Texas Austin, Harvard, dan MIT. –AlHijrah Online
