JERMAN: Sebuah masjid besar di Cologne, Jerman mencatat sejarah selepas azan berkumandang buat pertama kali di masjid tersebut, semalam.
Ia selepas pihak berkuasa meluluskan kebenaran untuk masjid itu menyiarkan laungan azan namun perlu mengikut beberapa syarat yang ketat.
Antara syarat tersebut ialah laungan azan hanya untuk solat Jumaat dan dibenar dilaungkan untuk tempoh limit minit sahaja pada waktu tengah hari sehingga 3 petang selain mengehadkan bunyi tidak melebihi 60 desibel.
Setiausaha Agung Kesatuan Turki-Islam untuk Hal Ehwal Agama (Ditib) Abdurrahman Atasoy berkata, perjanjian untuk percubaan dua tahun itu dibuat dengan pihak berkuasa tempatan bandar raya itu, Rabu lalu.
“Kami sangat gembira. Azan memanggil orang ramai menunaikan solat adalah tanda umat Islam berada di sini,” katanya.
Sementara itu, Datuk Bandar Cologne Henriette Reker berkata, kebenaran melaungkan azan itu disifatkan sebagai meraikan kepelbagaian agama di bandar itu.
Cologne ialah salah satu bandar terbesar di Jerman yang menempatkan lebih 120,000 orang Islam, hampir 12 peratus daripada keseluruhan penduduk bandar itu.
Masjid Pusat Cologne dibangunkan dengan reka bentuk moden dengan struktur kaca dan konkrit yang berkapasiti 1,200 jemaah.
Masjid itu dirasmikan Presiden Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan pada 2018 dan diuruskan Ditib.—AlHijrah Online
