Ancaman penyakit semakin meningkat di pusat perlindungan sementara di Semenanjung Gaza dengan puluhan ribu orang tinggal dalam keadaan bersesak, menurut Pejabat Penyelarasan Hal Ehwal Kemanusiaan (OCHA) Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu.

Perkhidmatan kesihatan di kawasan berkenaan sudah sekian lama terbeban dan gelombang pemindahan baharu yang diarahkan tentera Israel telah menjadikan tugas mereka lebih sukar.
Jangkitan pernafasan dan cirit-birit adalah antara penyakit paling banyak dilaporkan di pusat perlindungan kecemasan, kata ketua Pertubuhan Kesihatan Sedunia (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus di platform media sosial X pada Jumaat, lapor Agensi Berita Jerman (dpa).
Kira-kira 180,000 orang menderita jangkitan pernafasan manakala lebih 136,000 kanak-kanak di bawah umur lima tahun mengalami cirit-birit yang boleh mengancam nyawa jika tidak dirawat.
Terdapat juga lebih 55,000 kes kutu dan kudis.
Menurut OCHA, Tabung Kanak-kanak PBB telah menghantar 600,000 dos vaksin ke Semenanjung Gaza pada Jumaat.
Matlamatnya adalah untuk kanak-kanak menerima imunisasi rutin pada tahun depan walaupun dilanda perang. Imunisasi itu, termasuk difteria, tetanus dan batuk kokol.–AlHijrah Online
