NEW YORK: Situasi kesihatan dan kemanusiaan yang “tidak berperikemanusiaan” kini berlaku di seluruh Gaza dengan keadaan terus merosot, menurut ketua Pertubuhan Kesihatan Sedunia (WHO) pada Rabu.
Ketua Pengarah WHO Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus berkata Gaza telah umpama sebuah zon maut.
“Sebahagian besar wilayah telah musnah. Lebih 29,000 orang terbunuh dan ramai lagi hilang atau dianggap meninggal dunia manakala ramai lagi penduduk cedera,” katanya dalam sidang media.

“Angka ini akan meningkat lebih lama perang ini berlangsung dan bekalan terputus,” kata Tedros.
Ketua WHO itu turut menyuarakan kebimbangan mendalam apabila agensi-agensi seperti Program Makanan Sedunia (WFP) tidak dapat akses ke wilayah di utara Gaza.
Beliau turut mengulangi risiko serius yang dihadapi oleh pekerja bantuan dan menekankan kepentingan untuk memastikan keselamatan mereka. –AlHijrah Online
