KUALA LUMPUR: Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi (KPT) akan memberi tumpuan dalam mempergiat lebih banyak program bagi meningkatkan kebolehpasaran graduan.
Menteri Pendidikan Tinggi Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin berkata perkara itu susulan lambakan jumlah graduan berbanding kadar permintaan industri pada masa ini.
Mengambil contoh bidang perubatan, beliau berkata cabaran yang dihadapi kini bersifat menyeluruh meliputi aspek peluang pekerjaan dalam industri, pelaburan dan pentadbiran kerajaan semasa.
“Kalau kita lihat dalam bidang perubatan, universiti awam hanya mengeluarkan 1,300 graduan pelajar perubatan setahun. Dicampur jumlah graduan universiti swasta, angka keseluruhan pelajar perubatan tidak melebihi 3,000 graduan.”
“Banyak juga graduan luar negara dalam bidang perubatan dan kita tidak boleh halang jika pelajar yang ingin melanjutkan pelajaran dalam jurusan yang diinginkan,” katanya pada sidang media di Suruhanjaya Sekuriti (SC) hari ini.”
Mohamed Khaled berkata graduan juga perlu dibekalkan dengan ilmu keusahawanan bagi membolehkan golongan itu menjana pendapatan dan bukan hanya bergantung kepada proses pencarian kerja.
Mengulas mengenai langkah kerajaan mengawal aktiviti melibatkan politik di universiti, beliau percaya bahawa Naib Canselor di sesebuah universiti mampu memainkan peranan bagi mengawal dan melakukan imbangan terhadap perkara itu.
Terdahulu, Mohamed Khaled merasmikan Program Graduan Pasaran Modal (CMGP) yang melibatkan majlis penandatanganan memorandum persefahaman antara KPT dan SC.
Beliau juga menggesa agar pihak universiti turut sama terlibat secara lebih agresif dalam menggerakkan pelbagai usaha bagi meningkatkan kebolehpasaran graduan.–AlHijrah Online
