SHAH ALAM: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim dimasyhurkan sebagai Canselor Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) ketujuh hari ini.
Istiadat pemasyhuran berlangsung di Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor di kampus induk UiTM di sini sempena Istiadat Konvokesyen kali ke-100 universiti tersebut.
Watikah pemasyhuran dipersembahkan kepada Sultan Ibrahim oleh Menteri Pendidikan Tinggi Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.
Zambry ketika membaca watikah pemasyhuran memaklumkan bahawa Seksyen 19A (2) Akta Universiti Teknologi MARA 1976 (Akta 173) memperuntukkan bahawa Canselor ialah Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Berdasarkan kepada peruntukan Seksyen 19A (1) akta berkenaan, Seri Paduka Baginda hendaklah mempengerusikan konvokesyen universiti itu.
Turut hadir pada istiadat itu ialah Pro-Canselor UiTM Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin serta Naib Canselor UiTM Prof Datuk Dr Shahrin Sahib.
Majlis hari ini turut menyaksikan Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah dianugerahkan Ijazah Kehormat Doktor Seni Kreatif.
Shahrin dalam sembah aluannya berkongsi penghargaan terhadap pemasyhuran Sultan Ibrahim selain menyatakan komitmen untuk memastikan UiTM konsisten dalam menghasilkan graduan berkemahiran tinggi dan mampu menyumbang kepada pembangunan negara.
“Dengan rasa penuh kesyukuran, seluruh warga UiTM menjunjung kasih di bawah naungan Yang di-Pertuan Agong dengan berkatnya memayungi institusi ini.
“Patik dan sekalian warga UiTM mengharapkan agar universiti keramat ini dapat terus memainkan peranannya dalam memupuk kesarjanaan dan membina kecemerlangan akademik bangsanya setanding dengan bangsa lain,” katanya. –AlHijrah Online
