Tiada keperluan untuk Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya (SPR) mengadakan pilihan raya kecil (PRK) bagi mengisi kekosongan luar jangka bagi empat kerusi Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Pulau Pinang, kata Setiausaha SPR Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak.
PUTRAJAYA: Tiada keperluan untuk Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya (SPR) mengadakan pilihan raya kecil (PRK) bagi mengisi kekosongan luar jangka bagi empat kerusi Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Pulau Pinang, kata Setiausaha SPR Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak.
Empat kerusi DUN berkenaan ialah Seberang Jaya, Sungai Acheh, Bertam dan Telok Bahang, katanya dalam satu kenyataan hari ini.
Ikmalrudin berkata SPR telah menerima pemakluman daripada Speaker DUN Pulau Pinang Datuk Law Choo Kiang melalui surat semalam berhubung status kekosongan luar jangka empat kerusi DUN itu selepas usul pengisytiharan kekosongan di bawah perkara 14A Perlembagaan Negeri Pulau Pinang.
“Berdasarkan pemakluman tersebut dan mengambil kira proviso di bawah Fasal (5) Perkara 19 Perlembagaan Negeri Pulau Pinang, tiada keperluan untuk SPR mengadakan pilihan raya bagi mengisi kekosongan luar jangka memandangkan DUN Pulau Pinang akan terbubar dalam tempoh kurang dari dua tahun,” katanya.
Sidang DUN Pulau Pinang semalam meluluskan usul bagi mengisytiharkan pengosongan empat kerusi Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (ADUN) daripada Bersatu.
Empat ADUN berkenaan ialah Dr Afif Bahardin (Seberang Jaya); Zulkfili Ibrahim (Sungai Acheh); Khaliq Mehtab Mohd Ishaq (Bertam) dan Zolkifly Md Lazim (Teluk Bahang) turut diarah keluar meninggalkan dewan.–AlHijrah Online
