ANKARA: Dua gempa bumi menggegarkan wilayah Hatay di selatan Turkiye pada Isnin, hanya dua minggu selepas gempa kuat melanda wilayah itu, menurut agensi pengurusan bencana negara itu.
Menurut agensi Pengurusan Bencana dan Kecemasan (AFAD) Turkiye, gempa pertama berlaku kira-kira 8.04 malam waktu tempatan (1704GMT) di daerah Defne di Hatay, berukuran 6.4 pada skala Richter manakala satu lagi gempa bermagnitud 5.8 berlaku tiga minit kemudian, berpusat di wilayah Samandag di Hatay.
Gempa pertama berlaku pada kedalaman 16.7 kilometer (km) manakala gempa kedua pada kedalaman 7 km. Kedua-dua gegaran turut dirasai di kawasan sekitar, lapor Agensi Anadolu.
AFAD mengeluarkan amaran menggesa penduduk supaya mengelak kawasan pantai sebagai langkah berjaga-jaga terhadap risiko kenaikan paras laut yang boleh mencecah sehingga 50 cm (1.6 kaki).
Naib Presiden Turki Fuat Oktay pula meminta penduduk di wilayah itu supaya menjauhi bangunan yang rosak ketika pihak berkuasa memeriksa kawasan yang terjejas.
Menteri dalam negeri negara itu berkata sekurang-kurangnya tiga orang terbunuh dan 213 yang lain cedera dalam gempa bumi itu.
“Tiga rakyat terkorban, masing-masing satu di daerah Antakya, Defne dan Samandag,” kata Suleyman Soylu pada taklimat berita.
Usaha mencari dan menyelamat sedang dijalankan di tiga lokasi terbabit, katanya.
Sekurang-kurangnya 32 gegaran susulan direkodkan setakat ini, menurut AFAD.
Wartawan Anadolu Agensi melaporkan bahawa beberapa bangunan runtuh selepas gempa bumi yang turut dirasai di negara jiran Syria.—AlHijrah Online
