GAZA: Dianggarkan seramai 50,000 kanak-kanak lelaki dan perempuan ditahan sejak pendudukan Israel pada 1967, lapor Agensi Berita Petra.
“Mereka ditahan tanpa mempertimbangkan usia mereka yang masih kecil tanpa diberikan keperluan asas kepada mereka,” kata Ketua Unit Kajian dan Dokumentasi Suruhanjaya Bekas Tahanan Palestin Abdel Nasser Farwaneh dalam satu kenyataan pada Isnin.
Beliau berkata Israel tidak menghormati peraturan standard minimum dalam rawatan kanak-kanak Palestin yang ditahan di penjara dan pusat tahanan.
“Ia bertujuan untuk menjejaskan dan memusnahkan masa depan mereka untuk mewujudkan generasi yang lemah,” katanya.
Bahkan, katanya kanak-kanak Palestin ditahan untuk tempoh yang lama dan ini ternyata bertentangan dengan peruntukan konvensyen hak asasi manusia antarabangsa, khususnya Konvensyen mengenai Hak Kanak-kanak.
Farwaneh berkata rejim itu memperlakukan tahanan dengan zalim dan ganas serta merampas hak asasi mereka, seperti hak pendidikan, rawatan, makanan yang mencukupi, tidak dibenar menerima lawatan daripada ibu bapa dan tidak dibicarakan secara adil. – AlHijrah Online
