RIYADH: Arab Saudi dan Qatar mengumumkan pemberian bantuan kewangan bersama kepada kakitangan sektor awam Syria dan akan disalurkan dalam tempoh tiga bulan.
Menurut Agensi Akhbar Saudi (SPA), inisiatif itu merupakan sebahagian daripada komitmen berterusan kedua-dua negara untuk menyokong pemulihan ekonomi Syria, susulan sumbangan terdahulu berjumlah kira-kira US$15 juta bagi menyelesaikan tunggakan Syria kepada Kumpulan Bank Dunia.
Bantuan itu mencerminkan usaha Arab Saudi dan Qatar dalam memperkukuh kestabilan di Syria, mengurangkan penderitaan kemanusiaan serta memajukan kepentingan rakyat negara itu.
Ia turut menggambarkan hubungan rapat dan ikatan sejarah yang lama terjalin antara ketiga-tiga negara.
Kedua-dua negara menegaskan bahawa bantuan terbabit adalah lambang sokongan mereka terhadap pembangunan ekonomi dan sosial di Syria, selain usaha memperbaiki taraf hidup rakyatnya.
Mereka turut menyatakan harapan untuk bekerjasama dengan masyarakat antarabangsa, khususnya rakan pembangunan dalam kalangan organisasi serantau dan antarabangsa, menerusi satu visi yang jelas dan menyeluruh bagi menjamin sokongan yang berkesan, mampan dan memberi peluang pembangunan jangka panjang kepada rakyat Syria.–AlHijrah Online
